Football Toppled by No. 2 Vikings
Des Moines, Iowa – The Graceland University football team took on the No. 2 Grand View (Iowa) Vikings this afternoon and were defeated, 7-48. They now move to 2-7 on the season.
Graceland (2-7) vs. Grand View (9-0)
Quarter 1 Graceland 0 | Grand View 13
The Vikings worked to find the endzone first from the Graceland 06 to rush in, but the extra point failed (9:28). Grand View added to their advance late in the first quarter (0-13). Graceland's defense would halt the Vikings for the endzone.
Quarter 2: Graceland 7 | Grand View 7
Grand View would cash in for a third early in the second quarter, adding to the Graceland deficit. (0-20). The Yellowjackets would start their drive at their 16-yard line, moving 84-yards in 14 plays. Judd Roberts would end the drive by firing the ball to Gerald Monroe. Joseph Sanchez made the extra point. Both teams would fight to find the endzone but would end the half with a score of 7-20.
Quarter 3: Graceland 0 | Grand View 14
The third quarter started with a 55-yard kick-off from Joseph Sanchez. The Vikings would produce a 58-yard drive to the endzone, increasing their lead (7-27). From an on-side kick, the Vikings would recover and further their offensive efforts (7-34). Graceland would work to close their deficit, but their drive ended with a 53-yard Tom Troeth punt. Graceland's defense would hold the Vikings back late in the third quarter.
Quarter 4: Graceland 0 | Grand View 14
The Vikings would start the fourth quarter on the Graceland 02 and would find their way through (14-minute mark). With just under 6 minutes remaining, the Vikings would add their last touchdown for a rush of 5-yards. (7-48). Graceland would work, but their final drive ended with a Judd Roberts 36-yard pass to Emil Rabin.
