Graceland Concludes Season With Four-Set Loss to No. 24 Grand View
LAMONI, Iowa — Graceland University women's volleyball wrapped up its 2025 season Friday evening with a 3-1 loss to No. 24 Grand View University at the Morden Center. The Yellowjackets claimed the second set but fell in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) contest by scores of 15-25, 25-19, 15-25, 11-25.
With the result, Grand View closed the regular season at 27-3 overall and 17-1 in Heart play, clinching the Heart regular season championship. Graceland concluded its season 7-22 overall and 3-15 in conference action.
The Yellowjackets totaled 27 kills on 143 attacks with a .000 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Kaci Young led the team with nine kills, while freshman setter Allison Sander dished out 12 assists and added two service aces. Kaylee Baker anchored the front line with three solo blocks and six block assists, part of Graceland's team total of 22 block assists and four solo blocks.
After dropping the opening set, Graceland responded with an efficient second set, using tough service from Shaeniah La Fountain, who recorded three service aces, to swing momentum. The Yellowjackets capitalized on Viking errors and won the set 25-19.
Grand View reasserted control in the third and fourth sets, powered by a strong offensive effort. Outside hitter Vitoria Campos Mello led all players with 17 kills on a .310 clip, while setter Juliana Neves posted 35 assists and added a service ace. Ellie Dougherty contributed 13 kills and 11 digs, helping the Vikings hit .132 as a team.
The Vikings held the edge from the service line, finishing with 10 aces and just five errors, while Graceland recorded six aces but committed 12 service errors.
Graceland honored its seniors prior to the match in recognition of their contributions to the program.
This concludes the 2025 season for Graceland University women's volleyball.
