LAMONI, IA – Graceland University women's soccer advanced in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Grand View University.

Head Graceland University women's soccer coach, Ozzie White said, "We are very proud and please for the players, the program, and Graceland University. It was a tough game with lots of pressure and a terrific second half performance. Semi-final is waiting."

The two team's took a little bit to find their rhythym in the contests. Both defenses stood tall, as neither goal keeper was greatly tested. Grand View rifled off five shots in the first half, none on goal. The score remained tied 0-0 at the break.

Graceland turned up the pressure and jumped out of the gates strong to open the second half. Just over two minutes into the period, GU earned a corner kick. Hannah Hiner served the ball into the box, as Keely Compton connected on the other end to put GU ahead 1-0. Two minutes later, Suzne Sato and Megan Kimrey played in combination, playing Soleya Figueroa in. Figureroa sent a ball past the keeper. Graceland held a 2-0 not even five minutes into the second half.

From there, Graceland held their ground defensively and worked to pressure Grand View to keep the Vikings out of their tempo. Graceland went on to defeat GVU 2-0. The victory in the quarterfinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament, advances the Jackets into the semifinals at Central Methodist University on November 8.

Grand View outshot Graceland 9-5 overall in the contest with the teams tied at 2-2 with shots on goal. Five different players counting shots in the contest. Keely Compton scored the game winning goal, as Soleya Figueroa tabbed the other goal. Manaia Siania made two saves in the contest to earn the shutout.
