Yellowjackets Sign Rebecca Ferguson for 2011 Season

Lamoni, IA - Graceland University and Head women's soccer coach Fred Wagenaar are proud to announce the recent signing of Kansas native, Rebecca Ferguson.

Becca, a recipient of the Wallace B. Smith scholarship, will join the Yellowjackets soccer program in the fall while studying Psychology and Pre-medicine with a minor in Spanish. Ferguson currently attends Piper High School in Kansas City, KS where she is a four year varsity soccer letter winner as a Pirate. During her time at Piper she has accrued several soccer accolades including 2nd All-Kansas Valley League Defense as a freshman, 1st team All-KVL forward as a sophomore. Ferguson also established a school record for most goals in her sophomore year with 24. As a junior, Becca was 2nd team All-KVL forward, 1st Team All-Region Forward and Honorable Mention All-State Forward. In addition to soccer, Rebecca participates in cross country, football and basketball for her school.

Along with her contributions on the field, Becca is a decorated scholar who has been honored with the title of Kansas Honors Scholar, Principal's Honor Roll for 4 years, Scholar Letter recipient, National Honors Society Member and KU Honors Scholar. Rebecca is also involved in school clubs, including being the co-President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as the Key Club President and a member of the Piper Girls Athletics Association and Weight lifting Club. Recently, Ferguson was honored by being chosen to represent her high school as a NAIA Champion of Character at the annual NAIA conference in Kansas City, MO.

Head Coach Fred Wagenaar commented on Rebecca, saying," Rebecca is a very strong player, and can play the role of a holding forward very well. She has a great shot and will be a big asset for Graceland. Becca possesses great character, and is also an extremely talented student, with great focus, and I have found over the years that success in the classroom translates well into success on the field. We are very much looking forward to having Becca on our team."

Becca is the daughter of Doug and Shauna and sister to Laura, Sara, Dalton and Logan. Congratulations Rebecca, and welcome to the Yellowjacket family.
