Graceland Women’s Golf Competes at Spring Invitational

MARYVILLE, Mo. — The Graceland University women's golf team competed at the Graceland Spring Invitational, navigating a 5,825-yard, par-72 layout at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in stroke play competition against a nine-team field .

The Yellowjackets competed as individuals in the field, focusing on tee-to-green consistency, approach proximity and putting efficiency throughout the round. Kennedy Jones led Graceland with a round of 115, managing course conditions and maintaining pace across all 18 holes . Macy Schilb also competed for the Yellowjackets, recording a full round score while gaining experience in competitive scoring environments.

The event featured strong team scoring at the top of the leaderboard, with Indian Hills Community College capturing the team title at 335 (+47), followed by Clarke (351, +63) and Saint Mary (362, +74) . Individually, Poppy Norcott (Indian Hills CC) earned medalist honors with an 86 (+14), while multiple competitors finished within close range of the lead, highlighting the course's emphasis on shot shaping and greens in regulation.

Graceland's participation centered on round management and short-game execution, with an emphasis on limiting penalty strokes and improving scoring on par-4 opportunities. The Yellowjackets showed discipline in course navigation, working through approach angles and recovery shots in a competitive field.

Head coach Kevin Brunner emphasized development through competitive reps.

"This event gave us an opportunity to focus on course management and scoring discipline. We are working on minimizing mistakes, improving approach consistency and becoming more efficient on the greens. Each round is a step forward in our progression," Brunner said.

The invitational provided a benchmark for the Yellowjackets as they continue to refine ball striking, distance control and putting performance heading into the next segment of the season.

Graceland returns to competition Monday, April 6, at 10:00 a.m. CDT at the Clarke Invite Day One, held at Eagler Ridge North Course in Galena, Illinois.
