Graceland Women’s Golf Wraps Up Fall Tournament at Table Creek
NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. — The Graceland University women's golf team competed in a challenging two-day field at The Golf Course at Table Creek, finishing ninth overall with a team score of 859 (440–419, +287) in the Peru State-hosted fall tournament. The 36-hole stroke play event included nine complete teams and several individuals, competing on the 5,782-yard, par-71 layout.
Rylee Zimmerman led the Yellowjackets with a 195 (+53) total, shooting 99 in the opening round and bouncing back with a 96 in round two to finish 30th overall in a field of more than 45 players. Zimmerman's second round included improved fairway accuracy and more consistent approach play, helping her card the team's lowest score of the tournament.
Kennedy Jones followed closely with a 198 (+56) total, recording identical rounds of 99 in both rounds to place 32nd. Macy Schilb posted a 214 (+72), improving from an opening 114 to a final-round 100, finishing 40th. Emma Jenkins rounded out the scoring lineup with a 252 (+110), including a second-round 124.
Despite finishing at the bottom of the team standings, Graceland demonstrated incremental improvement from round one to round two, shaving 21 strokes off their team total on the final day. The Yellowjackets' final round of 419 marked one of their better team efforts of the fall season and showed signs of technical development across the lineup.
"We saw progress this week, especially with how we closed the tournament," said head coach Kevin Brunner. "This course required strong course management and short game execution, and while our scores still reflect areas for growth, our team competed with resilience. Each player is building the reps and experience needed to keep us trending in the right direction."
The tournament was won by Saint Mary (Nebraska) "A", which posted a team total of 643 (+71) behind medalist Sofia Chavez (158, +16). Iowa Central Community College finished second with a score of 686, while host Peru State "A" placed third at 690. The team leaderboard was tightly packed through the top five teams, but widened in separation across the middle and lower flights.
Individually, Chavez led the field with consistent rounds of 76 and 82, while Graceland's Zimmerman made one of the larger jumps in the field between rounds. Schilb also posted a 14-stroke improvement between her rounds, the largest individual gain within Graceland's lineup.
The event marked the Yellowjackets' final tournament of the fall schedule. The roster, composed primarily of underclassmen, used the fall season to establish baseline scoring averages, course experience, and tournament exposure. Graceland will now enter its offseason phase focused on swing refinement, short game fundamentals, and scoring consistency heading into the spring championship season.
Up next for Graceland is the annual Homecoming Alumni Tournament on Friday, October 3. The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. CDT and will be held at Lamoni Golf and Country Club in Lamoni, Iowa.
