Isabelle O'Brien Wins Graceland Invitational

LAMONI - The Graceland University Women's Golf team hosted their Graceland Invitational earlier today. They did not post a team score in the tournament. Individually, Isabelle O'Brien shot an 81 and won the invitational by one stroke.

O'Brien, the reigning Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Women Golfer of the Week, earned 1st place on the home course shooting just nine strokes over par. She was trailed by teammate Molly Carey who placed fifth shooting an 85. Sierra Marshall shot an 88 and tied for 11th on the day.

Also competing in the Graceland Invitational today were Mount Mercy, William Penn, Baker, Peru State, North Central Missouri, and Simpson.

Head golf coach Kevin Brunner commented, "I feel good about today. Scores were a little higher than expected because the wind kept increasing as the day went on. I was proud of the way our players performed. It was good to see Izzy win the home tournament even though she felt like she struggled. Molly played good and was steady as usual. She birdied the par 5 number 7 both times around today. A big congratulations to Sierra for shooting her best collegiate round. She broke 90 and now looks to keep the scores below 90. I am looking forward to more success this fall."

The women's next tournament will be on September 27 at the Waldorf Invitational. They will tee off at 12 p.m. at the Wedgewood Cove Golf Course in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
