Softball Falls to Culver-Stockton College

Canton, MO - The Graceland softball team traveled to face the Bobcats of Culver-Stockton College today. After getting swept by Central Methodist on Saturday, the Yellowjackets were once again swept by the Bobcats, falling 4-3 and 8-1.

Game One - CSC 4 - GU 3

The Bobcats opened the scoring in game number one as CSC scored its first run in the second inning giving Culver-Stockton a quick 1-0 lead. That was just the start of offense for the Bobcats, as Culver-Stockton added three more runs in the next three innings to get on top 4-1.

GU would put two more runs on the board in the top of the sixth inning but would still fall 4-3.

One of the bright spots for Graceland in game one was freshman Camryn Keul who went 1-3 with a run scored in the loss.

Game Two - CSC 8 - GU 1

Game number two of the doubleheader was similar to the first one as CSC took compete offensive control. After a four run first inning by CSC, the Yellowjackets wouldn't be able to open their scoring until the fourth. Carley Bounarigo would score to give Graceland its one run of the game and make the score 6-1.

After the Bobcats added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, Gracelands offense would continue to struggle as they would fall 8-1.

Four different Yellowjackets had a hit in game two. Bounarigo had a hit, a run and a RBI while Samantha Stockford, Sadie Green and Keul each had a hit as Graceland fell to 8-14 overall and 1-9 in Heart play.

Graceland will be back in action on Saturday, April 9 when they host #20 ranked Grand View University in Heart conference action. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
