Evan Hansen was named Head Coach of the Graceland University Men’s and Women’s Wrestling programs in 2025, bringing elite-level competitive credentials, a rising coaching pedigree, and a passion for developing student-athletes on and off the mat.

A four-time NAIA National Champion and the 2018 NAIA Most Outstanding Wrestler, Hansen enjoyed one of the most decorated collegiate wrestling careers in NAIA history while competing at Grand View University. He was a key contributor to four NAIA team national titles, a three-time Junior World Team Trials qualifier, and earned his B.A. in Psychology while competing at the highest level of collegiate wrestling.

Hansen’s coaching journey includes a wide range of experience across both high school and collegiate levels. He most recently served as Head Wrestling Coach at AHSTW High School (Iowa) for the 2023–24 season. Prior to that, he made his mark in the NAIA coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Avila University, Ottawa University, and Grand View University. At Ottawa, he coached eight national qualifiers, while at Avila, he played a critical role in building both men’s and women’s programs, helping qualify six women’s wrestlers to nationals during his tenure.

In March 2025, Hansen was promoted to lead Graceland’s combined wrestling programs. His leadership is set to continue the Yellowjackets’ tradition of excellence, both athletically and academically.

“I’ve been passionate about this sport my entire life,” Hansen said. “I’m excited to build a competitive, disciplined, and high-achieving program that reflects the values of Graceland University. We have a great foundation, and I’m looking forward to growing it even further.”

Hansen works alongside Zack Mullins, who now serves as Director of Wrestling after 12 seasons as the men’s head coach. Mullins remains closely involved in program oversight, providing mentorship and strategic support as Hansen steps into this new era of leadership for Graceland Wrestling.
