Graceland Dominates St. Ambrose in Home Dual Victory

LAMONI, Iowa — The Graceland University Yellowjackets delivered a dominant team performance Tuesday evening in a 42-3 dual meet win over St. Ambrose University, held inside the Morden Center. The Yellowjackets claimed nine of ten matches, including three by fall and two by technical fall, in what was their second home contest of the 2025-26 NAIA wrestling season.

With the victory, Graceland improves to 3-0 overall and remains 1-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) competition. St. Ambrose falls to 0-2 overall, and 0-1 the Heart competition.

The dual began at 125 pounds, where Christian Trujillo-Quintana opened the night with a first-period fall at 1:58 over Anthony Trendle, putting the Jackets on the board early with six team points.

At 133 pounds, Davion Wilson was awarded a forfeit victory, extending Graceland's early lead to 12-0. Wilson remains unbeaten on the season, continuing his momentum from the Grand View Viking Open.

The lone Yellowjacket loss of the evening came at 141 pounds, where Guiseppe Guerra of St. Ambrose edged Caden Lopez by decision, 10-8, cutting into the Jackets' lead with three team points for the Fighting Bees.

Graceland responded with wins in the next seven consecutive bouts. At 149 pounds, Payton Harger earned a decision, 11-6, over Tate O'Shea, followed by a hard-fought 11-7 decision by Invi Bella at 157 pounds against Georgino Moraga, securing another six total team points between the two weights.

The Yellowjackets added bonus points at 165, where Stephen Dickerson controlled from start to finish to secure a technical fall (17-2 at 5:32) over Berett Callison. The five-point team win extended Graceland's lead to 23-3.

Momentum continued in the upper weights as Jeraimiah Nyberg earned a major decision, 13-5, at 174 pounds over Broderick Schmidt, followed by Chris Wohrley's 14-4 major decision over Jean-Luc Guerra at 184. The back-to-back four-point team wins gave Graceland a commanding 31-3 lead with two matches remaining.

At 197 pounds, KJ Fry poured on the points en route to a technical fall, 19-3 at 5:16, against Colin O'Grady, and Kazz Hyson closed the dual at 285 pounds with a fall in 2:55 over Keandre Miles, sealing Graceland's 42-3 team victory.

"We wrestled tough today and did a lot of things well," said Graceland head coach Evan Hansen. "Our guys came out ready, kept pressure on their opponents, and looked to score in every position. There's still plenty to clean up, but we're excited about our trajectory and to see how good we can be."

Graceland's complete team performance was highlighted by consistent mat pressure, aggressive setups, and bonus-point wins, three key emphasis areas under Coach Hansen's leadership. All but one match saw Graceland wrestlers pushing the pace and generating scoring opportunities from both neutral and top positions.

The Yellowjackets now head into a short break from competition, using the time to recover, reset, and prepare as the season shifts toward the heart of dual action and early conference play. With Thanksgiving approaching, the team will pause from formal competition before returning to the mat.

The Graceland University wrestling team returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7:00 p.m. CST, when they host Central Methodist University in a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual at the Morden Center in Lamoni, Iowa.
