Graceland Wrestling Falls to Top-Ranked Grand View

LAMONI, IA – The No. 24-ranked Graceland University men's wrestling team faced a tough challenge against top-ranked Grand View University on Tuesday night, falling 45-3 in an NAIA dual. The Yellowjackets recorded one individual victory in the contest, as 184-pounder KJ Fry secured a hard-fought decision win for Graceland.

Grand View opened the dual with a dominant performance, securing bonus-point victories in several weight classes. At 125 pounds, Gabe Gonzales of Grand View won by forfeit, putting the Vikings up early. In the 133-pound match, Jackson Cockrell earned a major decision over Graceland's Riley Harger, 11-0.

Grand View continued its momentum with consecutive falls at 141, 149, 157, 165, and 174 pounds. Ben Murphy (141) pinned Joseph Frazier, Khyler Carstarphen (149) pinned Hoakea Salter, and Eli Larsen (157) recorded a fall over Colin Sharp. The Vikings extended their lead with a fall by Cam Robinson (165) over Jeraimiah Nyberg and another by Alex Reynolds (174) over Chris Wohrley.

Graceland's highlight of the night came at 184 pounds, where KJ Fry battled to a 9-7 decision over Grand View's Bruce Lukehart, securing the Yellowjackets' only points of the dual.

At 197 pounds, Grand View's G. Kouekabakilaho secured another fall against Graceland's Jayden Angle. The dual concluded with a 5-0 decision victory for Grand View's Cole Mair over Sam Fleming at heavyweight.

With the loss, Graceland's dual record falls to 3-5 on the season and 2-2 in conference action. Grand View improves to 9-0 overall and remains undefeated in conference competition.

Graceland will look to bounce back as it heads to Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO, this Friday and Saturday to compete in the Missouri Valley Invite.
