Men's Wrestling Stings the Tigers on Senior Night

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Wrestling team dueled the Iowa Wesleyan University Tigers. The Yellowjackets defeated the Tigers 41-12, and move to 5-2 on the season.

The Night started off with an exhibition between Riley Harger (GU) and Tucker Bahrm (IWU). Harger would take the match in a Major decision (15-2).

Starting the Yellowjackets off, in the 125-lb weight class Denias Johnson took on the Tiger's Lane Scorpil. Scorpil would get the first pin of the night putting the contest at 0-6.

Joe Lupton (GU) would step to the mat in the 133 lbs weight class to take on Brendan Ferenchik (IWU). Lupton would take down Ferenchik for his own pin. Shifting the contest to a tie.

In the following weight class, 141 lbs. Graceland's Jax Wenberg would pin Iowa Wesleyan's Carson Coleman. The Yellowjackets take the lead 12-6.

The Tigers would answer with a pin, in the 149 lbs weight class in the Devin West (GU) and Quinten Aney (IWU) matchup. The score now tied.

Invi Bella takes the 157 lbs weight class in a forfeit, putting the score in favor of Yellowjackets, 18-12.

In the next weight class, 165 lbs, The Yellowjacket's Cody Wilkins would defeat the Tiger's Jesus Diaz by decisions (8-6). The score now 21-12.

In the following weight class, 174-lb would be taken by the Yellowjacket's Jeremiah Nyberg in a forfeit. The score 27-12.

Graceland would win by tech fall (16-1) in the matchup between Cameron Cornman (GU) and Kaden Kaiser (IWU) in the 184 lbs weight class. The score now 32-12

John Schuttler would win by forfeit in the 197-lbs weight class. The score now 38-12.

The final weight class of the night featured Graceland's David Toese and Iowa Wesleyan's Isaac Boucher. Toese would win by decision (7-2) to end the score at 41-12.

The Wrestling team will be back on the mats on Saturday February 4, when they travel to the Missouri Valley College Open. The tournament will start at 9:00am.
