Wrestling Defeat Eagles

Fayette, Mo.  – The Graceland University Wrestling team dueled and defeated the Central Methodist University (Mo.) Eagles, 20-18. The Yellowjackets are 2-1 on the season.

 

Starting off for the Yellowjackets, Riece Graham takes the 125 lbs. weight and falls to CMU's Colton King to take the team score lead 0-6.

In the following weight class, 133 lbs., Joe Lupton stepped to the mat to take on the Eagles Jason Shaw. Lupton would dominate with a tech fall of 19-1 to help the Yellowjackets to trail by one 5-6

Ryan Anderson would take on the 141 lbs weight class and would take down Central Methodist's Mitchell Huber in a tech fall 21-6. The score is now 10-6.

Next in the 149 lbs. weight class. Jackson Wenberg would take his opponent down in a decision of 7-6 and brought the contest to 13-4.

The next weight class was 157 lbs., the Eagles would get on the board again with Lukas Eagles taking down, Graceland's Jeraimiah Nyberg in a decision of 7-2. The score is now 13-9.

The Eagles Donald Griffin would follow next with his own victory to the Graceland Invi Bella by decision (9-3) and bring the contest to 13-12.

Graceland's Mark Leija  would next set to the mat to take on Central Methodist's Justin McEnaney in the 174 lbs weight class. Leija would take the class with a major decision 15-5. Shifting the contest in their favor 17-13.

At the 184 lbs weight class Cameron Cornman (GU) would take on Sincere Hall-Osborne (CMU). The Yellowjackets would take the victory by a decision (5-3); the score is now 20-12.

The Eagles would add a win by decision in the 197 lbs weight class from the match-up of Graceland's John Schuttler and Central Methodist's Elijah Hynes. The score now 20-15

The final weight class of the night featured Graceland's David Toese and Central Methodist's Brenden Shelton. Shelton (CMU) would take the match in a decision of 7-4, ending the dual at a score of 20-18.

The Wrestling team will be back on the mats on Saturday, November 19 when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take part in the Coe College (Iowa) Invite. Start time is set for 9:00 am.
