Johnny had a great start to his 2016 indoor season at the Central College Dutch Holiday Preview aiding the 4x400 relay team to a 2nd place finish and placing 9th in the 300m with a time of 37.43. During the Graceland Triangular he aided the 4x400m relay team to a 1st place finish and took home the gold in the 400m with a time of 51.53 a new personal best. At the Chelsey M. Henkenius Open he took 4th place in the 600m with a time of 1:24.88 and aided the 4x400m relay team with a 4th place finish. During the Heart of American Indoor Championship’s, he aided the 4x400m relay team to a silver medal finish and the 4x800m relay team to a 5th place finish. He traveled to the Nebraska Tune-Up meet and placed 7th in the 600m with at time of 1:22.88 just off the national qualifying mark. He also aided the 4x400m relay team with a school record breaking time of 3:23.77.

He came out ready for his 2016 outdoor season at the Baker College Relays he took 9th in the 800m with a time of 2:03.54. During the SBU Bearcat Invite he aided the 4x400m relay team to a 4th place finish and placed 16th in the 400m with a time of 50.97. At the Jim Duncan Invitational he aided the 4x100m team to a 4th place finish and the 4x400m team to a 3rd place finish. He also ran the open 400m placing 16th with a time of 50.70 a new personal best. During the Kansas Relays he aided the 4x400m relay team to a 19th place finish and the 4x100m relay team to a 13th place finish, less than a second off the school record. He had a strong meet at the Grinnell College Dick Young Classic with a gold medal finish in the 4x400m, 8th place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:03.3 and an 8th place finish in the 100m with a time of 11.78. During the Heart of American Outdoor Championships, he aided the 4x800m relay team to a 7th place finish, aided the 4x400m relay team to a gold medal finish and a school record breaking time of 3:17.72. He also took 7th in the 400m with a time of 50.80 just off his personal best.

Johnny is a redshirt freshman from McKinney, Texas. He will be joining the Yellow Jackets long sprints squad. Johnny ran a 53.73 his senior year of high school. He ran at a couple unattached meets last year in the 400m and 200m dash.
