Tennis Competes in ITA Regionals

Bourbonnais, IL - The Yellowjackets tennis teams traveled to participate in the ITA Regional Matches held at Olivet Nazarene University this past weekend.

On the women's side Jessica Worring got to the quarter-finals where she was defeated 6-4,3-6,10-6. Alejandra Diaz Mares got to the semi-finals of the consolation bracket where she lost 2-8. Karina Cardiel made it to the quarter-finals of the same bracket, ultimately getting defeated 1-6,2-6.

"The girls struggled in a strong field of competitors Thursday and Friday," said head Coach Joel Loving. "We lost some close matches and weren't quite as sharp as we needed to be to move through the tournament."

For the men Oscar Chang Tun Jie lead the team getting the quarter-finals of his bracket. He was defeated 5-7,3-6.

"Chang battled hard throughout play and unfortunately just came up short," said Loving. "Winning at this level is is more difficult than people realize. Graceland tennis has experienced a lot of success over the years so this tournament was a hard loss for our players to swallow.

We have a clearer understanding of what we need to work on and will now look forward to our spring season."
