First Day In The Books In Alabama

Mobile, AL - The Yellowjacket men's tennis team finished an eventful first day in Alabama.

Having an 8:00am designated court time for their practice today, the men got a good taste of the conditions that they could be playing in tomorrow. And if the temperature tomorrow morning is anything like today, hydration will be a key factor for both teams.

After practice, we made a quick trip to the hotel for showers and hurried to lunch so we could get to our community service by 12:15pm.

Our afternoon was spent at the St. Ignacious Catholic school teaching the elementary kids about tennis and hosting a brief clinic for them until 2:45pm.

Next on the agenda was naps for everyone except coach Loving who had to endure coaches meetings while the rest of us got to relax.

The National Championship Banquet was held in the ball room of the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel that we were staying in. It was nice to see that the guys could actually clean up a little bit.

After a nice meal and socializing with some familiar faces, we called it an evening and retired to our rooms.

Unfortunately for some of the players, the timing of the championships has made it difficult for them to complete their finals. So, a few of them had to take finals tonight that were emailed to coach Loving to administer in place of the professors.

With their academic concerns behind them, the team is looking forward to the duel with McPherson College tomorrow morning at 8:30am.

Check back tomorrow to find out how Graceland fared in the its first round matchup!
