Men's Tennis Falls To Northwest Missouri State

Maryville, MO - The Graceland men's tennis team traveled to Maryville, Missouri today to face NCAA Division II Northwest Missouri State.

The Bearcats outdueled the Yellowjackets 9-0.

Despite the score, Graceland competed well in doubles.

Number ones, Jose Daniele Razo Torres and Borja Perez (FR/Bilbao, Spain) fell 9-7. Brezile Hamilton (SR/Nassau, Bahamas) and David James Parker (JR/Boise, ID) lost 8-4, while the number three pair of Danil Tarantinov (FR/Moscow, Russia) and Felipe Suarez Parra (SR/Cali, Colombia) fell just short at 8-6.

The results were similar in singles, GU played some close sets but not enough to claim victory.

"We played some tight first sets but then struggled across the board in our second sets which was a bit surprising," commented head coach Joel Loving. "This was a good match for us in preparation for conference."

The Yellowjackets will now prepare themselves for the HAAC conference tournament which takes place in Joplin, MO on Friday, April 24.
