Yellowjackets are Defeated by MidAmerica 3-1

Lamoni, IA - The Graceland men's soccer team returned to action today in a conference match-up against MidAmerica Nazarene University.

MidAmerica scored three times in the second half to win 3-1.

MNU (5-2-1) and Graceland (5-3) played the first half to a stalemate, though both teams were even in shots, taking two each.

The game remained scoreless until GU was able to break onto the board with a goal from Sergi Trullas in the 52nd minute. MidAmerica would then score three goals in a span of 11 minutes to run away with the game 3-1.

Jonathan Taylor, Bryce McClanahan, and Cameron Wallace all found the back of the net for MNU.

"We played very well for about 3/4 of the game," said head Coach Bryan Courtney. "I was happy with our organization defensively, and our commitment to working hard. MidAmerica is a very good team. It is difficult to keep them in check for 90 minutes. We will regroup and move forward. Hopefully we can get a better result against Evangel on Saturday."

Offensively, Graceland was lead by Trullas who registered three shots all of which were on goal and one was a made goal. Robert Turk also added two shots.

Alex Richt took the loss between the pipes. He made two saves on the day.

Graceland will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 26th, when they host Evangel University in another conference match-up. The game is scheduled to kick-off at 7:30pm.
