Yellowjackets Open Fall Slate with 8th-Place Finish at Hawkeye Fall Shootout
WAVERLY, Iowa – Sept. 17, 2025 – The Graceland University men's golf team opened its 2025 fall season with a steady performance at the Hawkeye Fall Shootout, finishing eighth overall in a 13-team field at Waverly Municipal Golf Course. The Yellowjackets posted a team score of 318 (+30) in the single-round event.
Freshman Colton Dennis led Graceland's scoring, carding a 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for 19th place among more than 60 competitors. He was one of four Yellowjackets to post sub-85 rounds as Graceland stayed competitive against a deep NAIA and NJCAA field.
"For a first tournament, it was good scoring and the team can improve as the season continues this fall," head coach Kevin Brunner said. "It was nice to see the good scores from the freshmen as we start the season."
Joining Dennis in the scoring lineup were Jonathan Paramananthan and Kallum Webb, both finishing tied for 26th with rounds of 78 (+6). Saxen Hii followed with an 80 (+8) to tie for 34th, while Trevor Shelton closed out the team scoring at 82 (+10), placing tied for 46th. Clayton Wichman also competed individually and recorded an 85 (+13), tied for 55th.

Graceland's final position placed them ahead of multiple second and third squads, including Viterbo [B], North Iowa Area CC [C], and Southeastern CC (IA), signaling competitive depth across the Yellowjacket roster. The event featured representation from both NAIA and NJCAA institutions, including Viterbo University, Simpson College, and Coe College's B teams, as well as several top-tier junior colleges.
Individually, medalist honors went to Freddie Muggeridge (Southwestern CC), who posted a 4-under-par 68, the only score under par. Viterbo's Ben Biskupski followed at 1-under, and six players tied for third at +1, including athletes from North Iowa Area CC, Viterbo, and Hawkeye CC.
