Graceland Men's Golf Competes at Baker Invitational

Day One Results

Lawrence, KS – The Graceland University men's golf team competed at the Baker Invitational, contending against a competitive NAIA field. The Yellowjackets faced challenging conditions at the event and used the tournament as an opportunity to continue refining their game.

Graceland finished in eighth place with a team score of 638 (331-307). The team showed notable improvement in the second round, posting a 24-stroke improvement over the first round.

Leading the way for Graceland was Noah Hughes, who tied for 20th place with a total score of 152 (+8). Hughes opened with a round of 81 (+9) before rebounding with a strong 71 (-1) in the second round. Jonathan Paramananthan followed with a tie for 44th place at 159 (+15), carding rounds of 82 (+10) and 77 (+5).

Also contributing to the Yellowjackets' effort were Trevor Shelton, who tied for 52nd place with a 164 (+20) but shot a single round, career best 78 on day two of the event. Saxen Hii, who tied for 55th with a 166 (+22), and Griffin Haugh, who placed 60th with a 169 (+25).

Graceland head coach Kevin Brunner praised the team's resilience and ability to adjust over the two-day event.

"The men got off to a rough start on the first day, but it's always challenging to come out strong in the first tournament of the season. I was very pleased with our ability to bounce back and put together a solid second round. Our goal is to break 300 before conference play, and if we stay focused and build confidence, we have a great chance to achieve that—setting us up well for the conference tournament. Senior Noah Hughes stepped up with a strong performance on day two, and his leadership will be key as we continue to improve."

The Yellowjackets will next compete in the Graceland Invitational, hosted at Mozingo Lake Golf and Country Club on March 28-29 in Maryville, Missouri. The home tournament will provide another chance for the team to build on its performance and continue making strides.
