Men’s Golf Posts Strong Showing at Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational

PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Graceland University men's golf team delivered a solid performance at the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational, hosted by Park University at The National Golf Club of Kansas City. The Yellowjackets finished seventh overall with a team score of +49, competing against a strong field of eight teams.

Graceland was led by Noah Hughes, who recorded rounds of 74 (+3) and 72 (+1) to finish tied for 8th at +4, just one stroke shy of a tie for fourth place. His consistent play highlighted the tournament for the Yellowjackets. Teammate Jonathan Paramananthan also impressed, finishing tied for 19th with a total score of +7 (75, 74). Saxen Hii rounded out Graceland's top contributors, finishing 36th at +14 after posting identical rounds of 78 (+7). Griffin Haugh and Lennard Bliem closed the team scoring, placing 44th and 45th, respectively.

Graceland head coach Kevin Brunner praised the team's performance while noting areas for improvement. "We played some good golf and had some very strong stretches of holes. Noah and Jonathan both had great tournaments, and Saxen showed resilience despite struggling with putting. As a team, we need to work on limiting big numbers and converting them into bogeys. The scores were solid, but each player taking a couple more strokes off will elevate us to a highly competitive level," Brunner said.

William Woods University captured the team title, finishing at +9, with Park University in second at +17. Columbia College rounded out the top three with a total of +22. Individually, Columbia's Sean Minor claimed medalist honors with rounds of 70 (-1) and 68 (-3) for a total of -4.

The Yellowjackets will conclude the fall portion of their season at the Heart of America Conference Preview Tournament, hosted by Park University at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate in Overland Park, Kansas, on October 21-22.
