Men’s Basketball Victorious Over Owls on Home Opener.

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University men's basketball team took down the William Woods (Mo.) Owls, 70-59. Graceland moves to 1-1 on the season.

Half 1: Graceland 30 | Mount Marty 32

The Owls were able to pull the first sizable lead of the game, rattling off back-to-back points (3-11). The Yellowjackets would pull their deficit within three points. The Owls would answer with back-to-back three-pointers to increase their advantage. (20-11). Late into the half, both teams hit a stalemate that lasted over a minute; the Yellowjackets would break it with a beyond-the-arch shot from Jacob Charske (23-22). William Woods would find their way to collect nine points and would add a 10-point advantage (32-22). The Yellowjackets would pull their deficit to two points heading into halftime.

Half 2: Graceland 40 | Mount Marty 27

Both teams would battle to get the edge in the second half. Halfway through, a layup by Sam'I Roe would even the contest at 44-44. The Yellowjackets would find their groove for a 13-2 scoring run to push their lead to 11 points (63-52), which was the highest of the game. The Yellowjackets would continue to bury their shots, making 15 of 35 field goals. Solidifying their victory was an end-of-the-game dunk by Winslow Martin.

The Yellowjackets would score a 40-point half, their 13-point run would add to their 11 point victory.
