Clarke Defeats Graceland Men's Basketball, 88-71

LAMONI - The Graceland University Men's Basketball team lost earlier today to the Clark University Pride in Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) action, 88-71 in Dubuque, Iowa. With the loss, Graceland falls to 2-13 overall and 1-13 in Heart play.

Five minutes in, Graceland held a 12-11 lead over the Pride to begin the game. Midway through the first half, Clarke would take a 9-point lead going up 26-17 with 9:23 to go. Later in the half, Graceland trimmed their deficit down to five, but trailed 43-34 at halftime.

In the beginning stages on the second half, Graceland chipped away and were back within one possession just a few minutes in. A 5-run spurt at the 15-minute mark from the Yellowjackets gave them a 48-47 lead. Clarke would later respond with a run of their own. With 9:25 to play, the Pride went up by double-digits leading 65-54. Late in the game, Clarke pushed their lead to 21 points over the Yellowjackets.

Individually on the day, Graceland's Nick Coleman led all scorers with 27 points. Jevon Burton was also in double-digits with 15 and a team-high seven rebounds.

Graceland will be on the road for one more game before returning to the Morden Center. They are set to face MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan. at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
