Graceland Dominates Cottey Behind Efficient Passing Attack in 51-7 Victory

LAMONI, Iowa — The Graceland University women's flag football team delivered a decisive 51-7 win over Cottey (Mo.) on Tuesday night, utilizing a high-efficiency aerial attack and aggressive defensive pressure to control all four quarters.

The Yellowjackets established tempo early with quick-strike scoring drives and consistent execution in the short passing game. Quarterback Sierra Flores led the offense with five touchdown passes, operating effectively out of spread formations and exploiting soft coverage in the red zone. Graceland opened with 18 first-quarter points and never relinquished momentum, building a 24-0 halftime lead.

According to the official box score, Graceland totaled 342 yards of offense, including 329 passing yards, while averaging 6.3 yards per play. Flores completed 26 of 34 attempts, consistently moving the chains with quick reads and accurate ball placement.

Ahmari Byrd emerged as a primary target, recording 12 receptions for 117 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing route discipline and yards-after-catch ability. Sydney Gann and Delaney Mondino added two touchdown receptions each, contributing to a balanced receiving corps that stressed the defense horizontally and vertically.

Defensively, Graceland emphasized pressure packages and coverage discipline. The Yellowjackets recorded five sacks and three interceptions, limiting Cottey to 148 total yards and forcing multiple turnover-on-downs situations. Sadie Lee led the defense with nine total tackles, while multiple defenders contributed to quarterback pressures and flag pulls behind the line of scrimmage.

Graceland added 27 second-half points, including sustained drives of 66 and 45 yards, highlighting efficiency in situational downs and red-zone execution. The Yellowjackets also converted key extra-point opportunities, extending their lead through consistent conversion attempts.

"Our execution in the passing game and our ability to generate pressure defensively set the tone early," said head coach Aaron Richardson. "We emphasized quick decision-making, clean route concepts, and disciplined flag pulling, and our players responded across all phases."

With the win, Graceland improves its conference standing and builds momentum heading into its next matchup.
