Yellowjackets Drop Two at Life Classic, Fall to Life (Ga.) and Reinhardt (Ga.)

Marietta, GA/Waleska, GA — The Graceland University women's flag football team opened its weekend slate Saturday with two contests in Georgia, facing Life (Ga.) in Marietta, Georgia, in the morning matchup before returning to the field later in the afternoon against Reinhardt (Ga.) in Waleska, Georgia. The Yellowjackets battled through two high-tempo contests, falling 44-14 to Life (Ga.) before a narrow 25-19 decision against Reinhardt (Ga.). Both games showcased Graceland's passing attack and defensive pursuit within the fast-paced structure of NAIA women's flag football competition.

The doubleheader marked the Yellowjackets' continued development in the passing game, with multiple receivers contributing in short-yardage route concepts and downfield completions, while the defense emphasized flag pulls and coverage adjustments.

Life (Ga.) established early offensive rhythm, building a first-quarter lead before Graceland responded with sustained drives and two touchdown possessions.

Life opened the contest with three first-quarter touchdowns, creating an early 19-0 advantage following multiple quick scoring drives. The Running Eagles generated explosive plays through the air, including deep passing gains that set up short scoring opportunities.

Graceland responded in the second quarter with a 12-play, 66-yard drive capped by a touchdown reception by Jaida Lammie, followed by a successful one-point conversion pass from quarterback Karissa Garcia, trimming the margin to 19-7.

The Yellowjackets continued to move the ball through short route concepts and perimeter completions. Garcia completed 30 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns, distributing the ball across multiple targets while working through defensive pressure.

Receivers Delaney Mondino and Beyonce Garibaldi led the passing attack with consistent route execution, combining for 17 receptions and 133 receiving yards. Lammie added two touchdown receptions, converting scoring opportunities in the red zone.

Defensively, Graceland recorded 31 total tackles, led by Ahmari Byrd with eight solo flag pulls, while Sydney Gann added 6.5 total tackles.

Graceland added its second touchdown late in the fourth quarter when Garcia connected again with Lammie on a scoring play during a four-play, 57-yard drive, cutting the deficit to 31-14 before Life closed the contest with two additional scores.

In the afternoon matchup in Waleska, Georgia, Graceland opened strong offensively and built an early lead before Reinhardt rallied in the second quarter and secured the final margin late in the fourth.

The Yellowjackets struck quickly on their opening drive as Sierra Flores connected with Jaida Lammie on a touchdown reception, followed by a successful one-point conversion pass to give Graceland a 7-0 lead.

Later in the quarter, Flores delivered another scoring pass, this time to Ahmari Byrd, extending the Yellowjackets' lead to 13-0 midway through the first half.

Reinhardt responded with three second-quarter touchdowns to move ahead 19-13 at halftime, capitalizing on multiple passing drives and quick scoring opportunities.

Flores continued to lead the offense, completing 26 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns while also contributing 37 rushing yards.

Graceland receivers remained active in the passing game, with Delaney Mondino (66 yards), Ahmari Byrd (56 yards), and Jaida Lammie (53 yards) providing consistent targets in intermediate routes and red-zone situations.

The Yellowjackets tied the game late in the fourth quarter on a 10-play, 58-yard scoring drive, but Reinhardt answered with a touchdown with 1:03 remaining to secure the 25-19 final.

Defensively, Sydney Gann led the Yellowjackets with 11 total tackles, while Byrd contributed five tackles and a sack as Graceland attempted to slow Reinhardt's passing attack.

Following the two contests, head coach Aaron Richardson emphasized the team's continued development and execution within the structure of the flag football offense.

"We saw strong progression in our route timing and quarterback reads today," Richardson said. "Our offense moved the ball through quick-game concepts and intermediate routes, and defensively we continued to improve our flag pursuit and coverage discipline. We have areas to clean up, but the effort and adjustments from this group were encouraging."

Richardson also highlighted the contributions of the receiving unit and defensive leaders who helped stabilize both games.

Graceland returns to action Wednesday, March 11, when the Yellowjackets travel to Leavenworth, Kansas, for a conference matchup against Saint Mary (Kan.). Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CDT at Charles J. Berkel Memorial Stadium, where Graceland will look to continue building momentum during the NAIA women's flag football season.
