Yellowjacket Receiver Monroe Shatters NAIA Records, Claims National and Conference Honors
LAMONI, Iowa (Sept. 4, 2024) — Graceland wide receiver Gerald Monroe (#2) delivered a performance for the ages last Saturday in Crete, Nebraska, rewriting the NAIA record books and earning both the Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week and the NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week awards.
In a gridiron showcase against Doane University, Monroe hauled in an astounding 16 receptions for 387 yards and five touchdowns, shattering the 34-year-old NAIA single-game receiving yards record. The previous mark of 384 yards was set by Carlton Jackson of West Virginia State in 1990.
Monroe and the rest of the GU football team (1-0) head to Marshall, MO (0-0) this Saturday night for a 6pm game against the Missouri Valley Vikings. You can Watch Live! via The Heart Conference Network and follow Live Stats! of Saturday's game.
