Football Defeats Statesmen on Senior Day
Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University football took on the William Penn Statesmen. The Yellowjackets defeated the Statesmen, 48-13, and finish their regular season at 4-7 and 2-3 in the conference
Graceland (4-7, 2-3) vs. William Penn (3-7, 1-4)
Quarter 1 Graceland 13 | William Penn 6
Graceland broke the scoreless game late in the first quarter with a Judd Roberts 7-yard pass to Gerald Monroe (4:57-minute mark). With just over a minute remaining in the quarter Tre Blake would find the endzone with a 20-yard reception, and the extra point Joseph Sanchez was good. William Penn had a 77-yard pass to Trey Mosley from Sterling Ramsey II and a failed kick, which led the score to 13-6 heading into the second quarter.
Quarter 2: Graceland 21| William Penn 7
Graceland's offense continued to thrive with multiple passes by Judd Roberts. With just under two minutes into the second quarter, Reggie Wilson would snag a pass for an 8-yard touchdown, increasing their lead to 13-6.
William Penn would work to find the Graceland endzone and would with a 71-yard touchdown and the extra point. The Yellowjackets would respond with a three-play drive that travelled 73-yards to end with a touchdown from Tre Blake and the two-point conversion from the caught ball by Gerald Monroe. The second quarter would end with one last Graceland's Gerald Monroe 20-yard touchdown to put the score at 34-13
Quarter 3: Graceland 7 | William Penn 0
Halfway through the third quarter, Justin Hooper would intercept the Statemen pass for a 42-yard return. Graceland would start their drive and end with an Adarius Thomas rush for the endzone, creating a 41-13 score. The extra point by Joseph Sanchez was good.
The Yellowjackets would hold the Statemen scoreless in the third quarter.
Quarter 4: Graceland 7| William Penn 0
The Statesmen would work to find the Graceland endzone; Trayvon Thomas would intercept the William Penn pass and return 30-yards to the William Penn 49. Donavan Anthony would enter the game in the fourth quarter and locate Reggie Wilson for a 35-yard touchdown.
Both teams would hold a strong defense for the remainder of the quarter, concluding with a 48-13 score.
