Football Fall to Wildcats

Lamoni, Iowa   – The Graceland University football team hosted the Baker University (Kan.) Wildcats on Homecoming day. The Yellowjackets were defeated in by the Wildcats, 42-56. They now move to 2-4 on the season.

Graceland (2-4) vs. Wildcats (3-3)

Quarter 1 Graceland 7 | Wildcats 7

Graceland got on the board early (14:00) with a 55-yard Gerald Monroe touchdown from the pass of Cade Ross. Joseph Sanchez's kick for the extra point was good. The Wildcats worked their way late in the first quarter for a rushing touchdown (7-7), evening up the score heading into the second quarter.

Quarter 2: Graceland 21 | Wildcats 35

Another early 43-yard touchdown for the Yellowjackets working in an 84-yard drive in 12 plays, Cade Ross found Gerald Monroe and the extra points. Under three minutes, Baker retaliated to find Graceland's endzone with a 54-yard run (14-14). Gerald Monroe adds his second touchdown of the second quarter, finding the endzone. (69-yard).

With the remaining five minutes of the quarter, the Wildcats would work to find the endzone (4:24 – minute, 1:22 minute, and 00:22 – minutes), ending the halftime score at 35-21.

Quarter 3: Graceland 35 | Wildcats 42

Both teams worked to find the others endzone. Late in the quarter, Baker would break the tie finding it first (42-21).

The Yellowjackets would answer with 11 seconds on the clock, with Gerald Monroe completed the pass from Cade Ross to end the scoring of the third quarter.

Quarter 4: Graceland 42 | Wildcats 56

Baker would extend their lead further at the 8-minute mark. The Yellowjackets would find their groove, Felix Wade would add to the Graceland score with a 66-yard run, and Joseph Sanchez would kick good for the extra point. Gerald Monroe would rush to add Graceland's last touchdown of the game. Baker would pull out one last touchdown with just over four minutes to end the score.
