Football Defeated by No.12 Ravens

Atchison, Kan.   –  The Graceland University football team traveled to Atchison, Kan.  to take on the Benedictine (Kan.) Ravens. The Yellowjackets were defeated in by the Vikings, 72-32. They now move to 2-3 on the season.

 

Graceland (1-2) vs. Ravens (4-1)

Quarter 1 Graceland 12 | Ravens 28

Early in the quarter (13:10), the Ravens were able to find the end zone to get the board first with a seven-yard rushing touchdown and extra point. The Ravens produced a 35-yard touchdown and extra point. Benedictine continued their pressure with a punt block to take possession and find the endzone (0-21). 

Graceland found their groove, moving the ball 85-yards in two plays, and Felix Wade for a 16-yard touchdown (6-21). Late in the first quarter, Cade Ross found Gerald Monroe closing the gap. The Ravens returned a kickoff to the Graceland endzone (12-28).

Quarter 2: Graceland 20 | Ravens 48

Another early touchdown from the Ravens extends their advantage. Benedictine completed a pass for the endzone. The Yellowjackets worked to move down the field, with a pass to Felix Wade into the endzone. The Ravens had a chance to work their way down the field, pushing through a 3-yard touchdown, to end the scoring of the first half. 

Quarter 3: Graceland 20 | Ravens 65

Graceland's defense came out of the half to halt the drive by the Ravens, resulting in a 29-yard field goal (made). The Ravens rushed for a 4-yard touchdown just under the nine-minute mark. Benedictine would complete a pass into the endzone with just over two minutes remaining on the clock. 

Quarter 4: Graceland 32 | Ravens 72

The Ravens started with the first possession of the fourth quarter and would find the endzone for the last time (19-72). The Yellowjackets would find a groove halfway through the quarter, moving 74-yards in 9 plays to find the endzone with a Tre Blake catch. Late in the half, Donovan Anthony would complete a 34-yard pass to Emil Rabin for a touchdown. Jadan Gilliland would catch the extra point to end the game.

The Yellowjackets will be back on the field on Homecoming weekend when they host the Baker (Kan) Wildcats on Saturday, October 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Huntsman Field. Pregame awards and ceremony will begin at 1:30 pm.
