Graceland Football Defeated at Clarke
LAMONI - The Graceland University Football team was defeated earlier today against the Clarke University Pride, 45-3 in Dubuque, Iowa. Clarke improved to 2-3 overall on the season with the win and 1-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Division. With the loss, Graceland falls to 0-4 (0-2 North).
Clarke went up 7-0 on their opening drive offensively after a 10-play, 68-yard possession. Graceland trailed by just seven at the end of the first quarter, but Clarke would put more points on the board the following 15-minute frame.
The Pride went on to score 24 points in the second quarter alone to go up 31-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Clarke added two more touchdowns to extend their lead. The Yellowjackets got on the board with :24 seconds in the quarter on a 36 yard field goal from Shane Harper.
Graceland offensively reached a season-high in passing (142 yards), rushing (138 yards), and total offense (280 yards) on the day. The Yellowjackets also had 12 first downs in the game, the most of their four games this season.
The Yellowjackets will be on the road again next week as they are schedule to face Grand View University on October 31. Kick-off is set for 12 p.m. next Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa versus the Vikings.
