LAMONI - The 2020 football season got underway today at Huntsman Field as Graceland hosted the Central Methodist University Eagles. Central Methodist defeated the Yellowjackets 42-0 in the opener.
Graceland fell behind 14-0 quickly as Central Methodist scored on their first drive offensively and followed that with a defensive touchdown on the Yellowjackets' opening possession.
The Eagles ended the first quarter up 28-0. Central Methodist scored again in the second quarter to take a 35-0 lead into halftime. Graceland was in the red zone early in the 4th quarter but turned it over looking for their first score. Central Methodist returned the Graceland turnover to seven points of their own. They held the Yellowjackets scoreless the remainder of the game in the 42-0 win.
Next week, Graceland will go to Marshall, Mo. to face Missouri Valley College. This will be the Vikings' first game of the season when they host the Yellowjackets. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on September 26.
