Wildcats Build Off Halftime Lead to Defeat Graceland
CANTON, MO. - The Graceland University football team fell on the road today to the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats, 52-14.
After stopping Graceland on their opening drive, Culver-Stockton would go 67 yards in four plays to go up 7-0 early in the 1st quarter. Neither team would score the remainder of the quarter as the Wildcats led 7-0 going into the 2nd quarter. There, Culver-Stockton would rattle off 35 points to take a commanding lead. Donte Sylencieux caught a four yard touchdown pass from Antoine Williams II early in the quarter for the lone Graceland touchdown. Caleb Thomas caught a pass from Williams II for the successful two-point conversion.
Graceland trailed 42-8 at the half. Sylencieux would then catch a second touchdown from Williams II late in the third for the next Graceland score. The following two-point conversion attempt failed as Culver-Stockton held on to a 49-14 lead to end the third quarter.
Culver-Stockton would add three points to their total before the final whistle to make it 52-14. The Wildcats outgained Graceland 516-190 in total offense on the afternoon. Graceland, now 0-10, will play their season finale in Peru, Nebraska next Saturday as they take on Peru State College who is currently 1-9 overall.
