#8 Baker Defeats Graceland Football, 70-6
LAMONI, IOWA - The Graceland football team was defeated by the #8 Baker Wildcats, 70-6 Saturday night.
After losing their first game of the season last week, Baker came in to Lamoni and was in complete control from start to finish against the Yellowjackets. The Graceland offense struggled to get anything going to begin the game after scoring on their opening drive last Saturday. Baker was able to score on their first two offensive drives of the game, and took a 21-0 lead into the second quarter.
The lead would keep building for the Wildcats as they would hold a 49-point advantage going into halftime.
At the half, Graceland was held to just 70 yards of total offense. Caleb Thomas was much of that first half offense as he had 3 catches for 55 yards.
In the second half, Baker was able to keep their offense rolling and kept the Graceland offense quiet. The Yellowjackets got their lone score with 1:54 to play in the 4th quarter on an Augustine Dattoli touchdown pass to Donte Slyencieux for nine yards. This came at the end of a 10-play, 75-yard drive.
That would be the final points of the game for either team as Baker would go on to win it, 70-6.
Baker outgained the Yellowjackets in total offense 510-222. Dattoli ended up as the team's leading rusher coming in late with three rushes for 46 yards. Thomas ended his night with four catches for 61 yards and Sylencieux added three catches for 47 yards.
Defensively for Graceland, they were led by Willie Page in tackles with 10 including 7 solo tackles. Danny Kimber and Damaund Whitmill each had six tackles a piece. Tevin Cameron, the team's leading tackler on the season, had five for the game.
Graceland will now go back on the road to play Central Methodist University next Saturday in Fayette, Missouri. Kickoff is set for 11:00 am next Saturday morning.
