#13 MidAmerica Nazarene Shuts Out Graceland In Olathe

Olathe, KS - For the second consecutive week the Graceland football team has played one of the HAAC's best teams and a top 15 team nationally in the NAIA rankings.

Facing #13 MidAmerica Nazarene University on its homecoming Saturday, the Pioneers shut out the Jackets, 55-0 after holding a 49-0 halftime advantage.

Graceland finished the contest with 194 total yards of offense; 118 of those coming on the ground.

"We played a better team today in all facets," said a disappointed coach Jeff Douglas after the loss. "We didn't execute on either side of the football and weren't prepared to play."

Jacket leading rusher Andrew Gayles finished with 57 yards on the ground on 12 carries and added 2 catches for 17 yards.

Quarterback Matt Fink was knocked out of the game with an injury in the third quarter after finishing 9-18 through the air for 76 yards and an interception. Fink appeared to be ok after returning to the sideline on his own power.

"I just got my bell rung a little bit," said Fink about the injury. "It certainly wasn't the way I wanted to go out in a disappointing game, but I'm ok."

Defensively GU was led by Dorian Smith who finished with seven tackles. Reggie Ramey and David Edmondson each ended with six.

The Jackets are now 4-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play. They'll return to Lamoni next week for their final home game of the season as they'll host Avila University, on senior day, at 2pm.
