Baseball Concludes Series Against the Wildcats

Lamoni, Iowa – The Graceland University Baseball team took on the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats in a four-game series. The Yellowjackets were defeated by the Wildcats in game one 11-8 in eight innings and Stung the Wildcats in game four 9-8.

The Scoring – Game 3
T1 – The Wildcats would find the board first on a Graceland wild pitch (GU:0 | C-SC: 1)
T3 – Two runs would score, one from a failed pick-off and a double down the left field line (GU:0 | C-SC: 3)
B3 – Three Yellowjacket runs would score on a Wildcats error from the drilled single by Bryan Paez; Kamaehu Sanchez and Darwin Marquez scored. Jacob Lopez would cross home plate on an Elio Narvaez single down the right field line (GU:3 | C-SC: 3)
T4 – Four Culver-Stockton runs would be added from two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly (GU:3 | C-SC: 7)
B4Ethan Balogh would drive a single to center field, and Austin Wheeler would score on the Wildcat error. A three-run homerun by Zach Tanabe would tie the score up; Kamaehu Sanchez and Balogh scored (GU:7 | C-SC: 7)
B6 – Graceland would take the lead by one from the sacrifice fly by Zach Tanabe to bring home Kato Dougan (GU:8 | C-SC: 7)
T7 – A Wildcats bases-loaded walk would tie the game and head into extra innings (GU:8 | C-SC: 8)
T8 – Culver-Stockton would cap their scoring by adding three from a three-run homerun (GU:8 | C-SC: 11)

Game 3 Individual Leaders
Roger Camacho started the game and went in 3.0 innings; he faced 18 batters and had one strikeout. Stephen Eskridge stepped to the mound next for 3.1 innings, facing 17 batters, allowing three runs on five hits and having two strikeouts. Jorge Diaz closed the game in 1.2 innings, seeing seven batters.

The Scoring – Game 4
B1 – The Yellowjackets would get on the board first and add six runs. A Bryan Paez single to left field would bring home Jacob Lopez. A drilled single up the middle by Elio Narvaez to score Zach Tanabe. Ethan Balogh would push Paez and Narvaez across home plate on a hard-hit single to left field. Jacob Lopez would step to the plate and crush a single to left field to score both Austin Wheeler and Balogh (GU:6 | C-SC: 0)
B2JD Woodruff drilled a single to right field, pulling Kamaehu Sanchez home (GU:7 | C-SC: 0)
T4 – The Wildcats would add six runs from back-to-back bases-loaded walks and a grand slam (GU:7 | C-SC: 6)
B4Bryan Paez would score on a JD Woodruff single to second base (GU:8 | C-SC: 6)
T6 – A Yellowjacket error would result in two Wildcats runs to score (GU:8 | C-SC: 8)
B6 – Graceland would cap their scoring for the victory from an Ethan Balogh drilled single to left field to score Elio Narvaez (GU:9 | C-SC: 8)

Game 4 Individual Leaders
Felix Lopez started the games for the Yellowjackets and went 4.0 innings; he faced 21 batters and had two strikeouts. Mason Krogsgaard (W, 2-3) would get the win with his effort at the mound in 2.0 innings. He faced nine batters and had four strikeouts. Zach Tanabe (Sv, 2) would close the game for the save in 1.0 innings; he sat down all three batters faced.
