Baseball Swept at Peru State
LAMONI - The Graceland University Baseball team was swept in their doubleheader yesterday at Peru State College.
GAME 1 (L 7-1)
The Bobcats took a three-run lead through two innings of play in the opener. After Graceland scored in the fourth inning, Peru State extended their lead to five in the bottom half. Later in the fifth, they added two more to put the game away.
Statistically, Alfonso Aguilera had a team-high two hits with one of those being a double. Bryan Paez hit a solo home run for the Yellowjackets' lone run of the game.
GAME 2 (L 11-2)
Peru State took a 3-0 lead out of the gate in the first inning. Graceland got two of those runs back in the top of the second, but Peru State responded by scoring three again in their next at bats. The Bobcats pulled away with more offense late in the game including four runs in the sixth inning.
Paez went 3-4 to lead the Yellowjakets on offense. Matt Reyes and Felix Rodriguez both doubled in the contest as well.
The baseball team will host Benedictine College this weekend for their final home games of the season. They will host the Ravens at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday with Saturday being noted as Senior Day.
