Senior Spotlight: Zak Schueller

LAMONI - The Graceland University athletic department is honoring a Spring sport senior who did not get the chance to finish their final season. This week we are honoring the seniors on this year's baseball team. The baseball team had just over half of their 2020 campaign remaining when the season was officially cancelled. Our next baseball Senior Spotlight is Zak Schueller.

The Ventura JC transfer was a three-year member of the Yellowjacket baseball program. Zak has been a catcher throughout his career at Graceland and started in 70 games in three seasons. In those three seasons, he has thrown out 23 runners from behind the plate while holding a .964 fielding percentage.

Schueller began the 2020 campaign on a high note with two key RBI in their season opener against Columbia College. For the season, he totaled eight hits, one home run, and compiled six RBI in 39 at bats. Behind the dish, Zak started 16 of the Yellowjackets' 23 games. He threw out four runners in that span and held a fielding percentage of .983. He had a season-high 13 put outs against Peru State back on March 8.

Graceland University wants to thank Zak for his committment to the baseball program and Graceland Athletics as a whole. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
