Baseball Set for Four-Game Road Series at Culver-Stockton

LAMONI, IA –Graceland University baseball will travel to Canton, MO this weekend for a four-game series against Culver Stockton College. This will be a Heart of America Athletic Conference event.

SCOUTING GRACELAND… Graceland enters the contest coming off of a doubleheader against Evangel University… The Yellowjackets currently hold a 12-20 overall record and 5-11 Heart record... Gabriel Melendez continues to be the strong suit for the Yellowjackets batting stats with a batting average of 0.424, 36 hits, 21 RBIs and eight home runs… Elijah Vazquez is another considerable contributor to GU's offense… Vazquez holds 35 hits on the year with a batting average of 0.393… Corey Harrell tacks on another 19 RBIs and six home runs for the Yellowjackets… Axl Parra has thrown 65 strikeouts and holds a 2.41 ERA… Michael Starns contributes 35 strikeouts and Drew Carlson adds an additional 34 strikeouts… Omar Maldonado is also in the chase taking on 28 more strikeouts for the Yellowjackets…

SCOUTING CULVER-STOCKTON COLLEGE... Culver Stockton is located in Canton, Missouri and are NAIA members of the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division… The Wildcats hold an overall record of 9-16 with a 5-7 conference record… As a team, Culver Stockton carries a batting average of 0.290… Jonny Damon leads the Wildcats in batting with an average of 0.395 and 34 hits on the year… Followed by TJ Durfee with 30 hits on the season… Edward Madera has 28 RBIs on the season including four home runs… Daniel Smith and Anthony Garcia lead the Wildcats in strikeouts with 28 a piece… Daniel Smith also holds an ERA of 2.16…

HEART OF AMERICA ATHLETIC CONFERENCE… The Yellowjackets are one of 14 schools competing in the Heart of America Athletic Conference…. There are two divisions in the Heart with the Jackets competing in the North Division….
