Graceland's Doty adds title of Assistant Athletic Director
LAMONI, IA - Graceland University head men's basketball coach Craig Doty has been named assistant athletic director. After leading Graceland to the school's first national ranking in NAIA Division I history and a 20-12 record this past season, Doty will continue to lead the men's basketball program as he takes on a role in athletic administration.
"I am excited to join Brady (McKillip), Stew (McDole) and Zach (Mullins) as the transformation of our athletic department continues," Doty stated. "I look forward to working with Kelly Everett, Joe Worlund and everyone in development as we focus on fundraising projects and relationship-building throughout the Graceland family and the communities we serve. I want to personally thank Vice President Scott Briell for his trust in me as we focus on creative solutions to help our athletic department and university prosper."
Prior to being hired at Graceland University in May of 2016, Doty was the head men's basketball coach and an assistant athletic director at Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. At Rock Valley, Doty, under the tutelage of athletic director Misty Opat, helped administrate one of the most successful college athletic departments in the country. Doty was involved in the creation of the RVC Hall of Fame and multiple fundraising projects including the "Rumble in the Rock" event, the expansion of the RVC golf outing, and the "Taste of Hops" fundraising dinner. RVC also started men's and women's soccer, developed an innovative academic success plan, and the athletic programs won eight NJCAA National Championships during Doty's tenure.
