Coach Guillermo Sanchez is entering his third full season as the Yellowjacket men's head coach. After serving as assistant varsity coach and head varsity reserve coach in 2009, Sanchez was promoted to the helm of the men's soccer in the spring of 2010.
A former captain during his senior year, Sanchez was a three time all-conference performer as well as a three time academic all-american.
Upon graduating from Graceland in 2006 with a degree in Psychology and Modern Foreign Languages, Sanchez moved back to Venezuela where he played professionally for Estrella Roja (Red Star). Later he would turn down other offers to continue playing professionally in order to coach for his alma mater. During his time in his hometown of Caracas, Guillermo also worked for Santa Fe Futbol Club as the head coach and as the clubs sports consultant.
In the summer of 2011, Sanchez completed both his graduate degree from Capella University in Sport Psychology and a USSF National "B" Coaching License.
Along with his experiences during his soccer career and passion for the game, the mentoring he has received from former and current GU coaches Ivan Joseph, Kevin Sherry, Angel Monroy and Fred Wagenaar have been of unmeasurable benefit to Sanchez.
