Womens Golf Season Outlook

Team Outlook 2011-2012:

Women: The Yellowjacket women return two players from the previous season. Look for senior Carolina Fonseca (Bogota, Colombia) to lead the team with her presence on and off the course. She is a talented player and will bring leadership, enthusiasm, and consistency.

The other returning player, sophomore Nicolette Westmoland (Skiatook, OK), has worked hard on her game over the summer. She will provide a consistent score and should have no problem breaking 100. Both will make significant contributions to the team in leading a young Yellowjackets team on the course.

This year the team adds three new players. Sophomore Lina Barriga (Bogota, Colombia) came to Graceland last spring and will start play for the Yellowjackets this fall. Lina has a sparkling personality and positive outlook. Her swing is good and her game will help the team take a big step forward.

Two freshmen are added to the team. Emily Martz (St. Joseph, MO) and Keeley Brunner (Lamoni, IA). Emily was an excellent High School golfer and brings a quality game to the Yellowjackekts team. Emily qualified for state in high school during her seasons at Central High School in St. Joseph. As Emily improves her mental approach to the game her scores will be even better. Look for Emily to break 80 over her career as a Yellowjacket.

Keeley hails from local Lamoni High School where she was a leader on the squad. Keeley barely missed a trip to the state tournament last year coming a single shot short. Look for Keeley to continue to improve her game and make a contribution of a consistent 90 or better score.

As a team, the Yellowjackets a poised to be a contender in the Heart of America Conference. If everyone improves as the year goes on, then the young team will be fun to watch as they make a bid to win in tournament play.
