Julie Rivera is entering her fourth year as the head cheer coach at Graceland University.
In 2016, Rivera's team finished third at the NAIA National Qualifier. In the previous year, the Jackets qualified for Nationals after fininishing second at the NAIA Regional Championships.
The 2014 season saw the Jackets finish fifth at Nationals after earning an at-large bid. GU also earned a second place finish at the Heart Championship and at the Missouri Valley Winter Classic.
She came to GU with four years of experience as a high school cheer coach and was the Graceland Gadet's dance team sponsor for one year.
Julie cheered all four years during her stint at Graceland University. She was a co-captain for two years and a member of the competition squad that attended NCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida in 1999.
Rivera graduated from Graceland University in 2001 with a BA in Communications and received her MA in Education from the University of Phoenix in 2009.
Julie is originally from Creston, Iowa and currently resides in Lamoni with her husband, Victor and their three boys Jaiden, Odin and Cannon.
