Lamoni, IA - Head coach Daniel Alvarado is pleased to announce the signing of Sara Ruckman, the sister of current junior and future teammate Jami Ruckman.

Ruckman brings with her to Graceland a variety of experiences including girls' cross country, track and basketball. While at Truman High School in Independence, Mo., head coach John Steele mentored Ruckman from grades 9-12.

During her time as a Patriot, Ruckman was an Academic Letter Recipient from grades 10-12 while also garnering the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award during her junior year. That same year, she also was named the Sonic Locker Room Truman Female Athlete of the Year.

"Sara will continue to be a star the moment she wears Blue and Gold," added Alvarado, "not just on the track but also in the classroom. I look for Sara to qualify for nationals every year while attending Graceland."

Ruckman brings a strong academic presence to Graceland as the high school track star maintained over a 4.0 GPA while serving as the President of the Student Council.

This past year, Ruckman was chosen in the first round for the 2012 Missouri State Track and Field Team in addition to earning First and Second-Team All-Conference awards her sophomore and junior year, respectively.

Ruckman, the daughter of Ralph and Brenda, will look to major in Business during her time as a Jacket.

Welcome, Sara, to the Graceland athletics family.
