Postcards from Davenport are the chronicles of GU Sports Information, and its travels with men's volleyball to Davenport as the Jackets prepare and play in the National Invite.

7:00 AM (Lamoni) -- It is cold and it is early. Both 11-passenger vans take off from Graceland University en route to Saint Ambrose University. The boys seem a bit groggy but should wake up when they arrive around 11:00 a.m. in Davenport.

12:00 PM (Lamoni) -- The second half of the caravan takes off as Matt Shelton, Carlee Strampher, Jessica Jiminez, Erin Lundy and Sam Kalingo join myself (Nicholas Robinson) in the minivan to head towards SAU.

5:00 PM (Bettendorf) -- Select alumni such as Mike Ducey, part of the 1998 National Championship squad, spoke kind and encouraging words to the men. He touched on topics such as energy, nerves, pressure, control and execution. Joining Ducey with words of wisdom was former head coach Stu Sherman. The event was hosted by Paul Davis who did an incredible job. Afterwards, the boys packed up to head over to campus for the tournament banquet.

7:00 PM (Davenport) -- Each team gathered on campus at SAU for a meet-and-greet and to eat a delicious dinner. An Italian-style spread was on the menu and each player stuffed themselves with excellently-prepared food. Afterwards, MAMVIC commissioner Bruce Billingsley and SAU head coach Bill Gleason introduced each program and wished everyone luck. Before heading back to the hotel for a good night's rest, the team gathered for a group photo.
