- The women's golf team opened their season with play on a very hot day with temperatures near 90 degrees at tough test on Mozingo Lake Golf Course
in Maryville, Missouri.
"The women were melting out there in the unusually warm spring weather," said Head Coach Kevin Brunner
. "I was proud of the way they competed. Both Lina and Keeley scored birdies and now if we can get the ‘others' to slide off the card we will be in good shape," finished Brunner.
The Yellowjackets finished the first day with a 390 score. The second day was played under cloudy cool conditions at Fairview Golf Course in St. Joseph, Missouri. The team score was a 393 for a respectable two day total of 783.
After the two day event Brunner reflected on his teams performance. "We played against all division II schools today and we played okay," continued Coach Brunner. "We have a lot to work on but if the ladies will put the effort in at practice they will be ready for the next tournament."
Individually, Sophomore Lina Marcela Barrigo Barrera
(Bogota, Colombia) shot 93-97 190. Freshmen Emily Martz
(St. Joseph, MO) scored 98-94 192. Senior Carolina Fonseca
(Bogota, Colombia) showed consistency with 99-99 198. Freshmen Keeley Brunner

Next up for ladies is a conference tournament preview hosted by Central Methodist University.
