For the fifth consecutive time, the Jackets were unable to grab the sweep, splitting the double-header. Baker took game one, 9-7 and Graceland won the second game, 4-2.
Game one was an eventful game for both teams. The two squads combined to commit five errors, tallied twenty-one hits and scored 16 runs in the 9-7 contest. Graceland shortstop Francis Rodriguez had a three-hit performance and scored a run and Steven Rodriguez and Brian Lira both had two hits. Catcher Meredith Meador drove in two runs in the loss.
Game two saw a strong outing from GU junior pitcher, Josh Higgins. Higgins threw six strong innings, giving up only two earned runs, on three hits, while striking out five and walking only one.
Graceland is now 12-15 overall and 3-3 in HAAC play. The Jackets will head back into conference play this Tuesday in Lamoni as they'll face Benedictine College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
