Mt. Vernon, IA - The men's and women's track and field programs to posted strong scores at the Hilltop Invitational, hosted by Cornell College.

Sisters Marriah Willis and Jaymie Willis both placed in the 400, with Marriah posting a 62.19 mark while Jaymie ran a strong 62.91.

Halamehi Vailea, in her first collegiate meet, placed and finished 8th in the weight throw, tossing a strong 11.34 meters.

On the men's side, sophomore Keith Mayfield placed 5th in the shotput, recording a distance of 14.23 meters.

"It was a good meet, even though we didn't perform as well as we wanted to," said head coach Daniel Alvarado. "We're hoping to peek at the HAAC conference meet and place some athletes at nationals."

Coming up next for the Jackets is the Distance Medley Relay on the women's side, while star runner Yonas Mebrahtu will seek a nationals berth by competing in the upcoming Iowa State University Invitational.
