Marshall, MO - The Jackets, behind 16 kills from Anthony Robinson, knocked off #9 Missouri Valley College 3-2 Wednesday evening.

Tonight's match was a see-saw affair as neither team could patch together two consecutive match wins. The home squad jumped on GU early and won the first set 25-21.

Graceland (3-1, 1-1 MAMVIC) responded in the next set, posting its match-high hitting percentage of .344. Hitting at that level allowed the Jackets to breeze to an easy 25-14 second set victory.

Graceland's hitting didn't transfer over to the third set as the Vikings (4-1, 0-1 MAMVIC) secured the third game 25-21. GU only hit .192, its lowest percentage of the match.

The fourth game saw the theme of a 25-21 score continue, albeit in Graceland's favor. The Jackets returned to hitting the ball well, posting a .323 percentage. This would set the stage for a deciding fifth set.

Graceland jumped out to a late 15-14 advantage needing one point to seal the victory. The next set the Jackets did just that, ending the season's most thrilling game to this point.

"Both teams were siding out very well," added head coach Chad McDole. "The wins boiled down to which team could score more off the serves. We made some adjustments on defense and received some key digs.

"It was a key match to win and I was very impressed with our fight."

Robinson led GU's attack with 16 kills and only five errors, while Kajetan Borecki added 12 and Andres Quinones contributed 11. Robinson and Ricky Helldoerfer each notched 14 digs in the victory.

With the win the Jackets improve to 3-1 on the season and hand Missouri Valley its first loss of the season.

Graceland returns to the court Saturday afternoon against #4 Missouri Baptist University in a noon affair and its first home match of the young season.
