After sitting through a two rain delay the ladies resumed
play and finished the first day of competition only five shots behind first place
Avila.
"This was perfect for our young team," said Head Coach Kevin Brunner. "I am glad we were
placed in this position as I think this was a great experience to be close to
the lead.
"Even though we did not play better the second day, you could see
in the eyes of the players that they had a desire to win and that is something
you cannot coach," finished Coach Brunner.
The Yellowjackets shot its best 18-hole score of 373 to finish day one. Their performance on the second day was not quite as good as they shot 399 and finished with a 772 for the two days.
Senior Carolina Fonseca brought home a 5th
place plaque for her efforts and led the Yellowjackets team with
87-92(179). Sophomore Lina Marcela Barrigo Barrera
shot 97-102 (199),
freshmen Emily Martz scored 96-96(192), Freshmen Keeley Brunner fired 93-109(202), and sophomore Nicolette Westmoland shot 130-139(269). The Yellowjackets look forward to the
spring season with high hopes.
