Wichita, KS - The Graceland men's and women's tennis teams finished up play Sunday at the ITA Regional Qualifier in Wichita, Kansas.

Two players qualified for the ITA national event in Mobile, Alabama in October with wins in their prospective matches. #1 men's player Laurentsi Arakhamiya won the A flight of the men's grouping by defeating Jack Schoeman of Bethany College, 6-2 & 6-2.

On the women's side Graceland's Tatiana Verela Fontecha defeated Elanqua Griffin of Missouri Valley College to qualify for the ITA finals. Fontecha won in an exciting, 7-5/6-4 match.

Head Coach Monroe Walker was pleased with his teams performance following the big wins. "I was very proud of our composure in the moment," he said. "The stakes were high but they remained calm, listened and followed the game plan and pulled out big victories," he finished.

Along with the ITA qualifiers, GU had several other players on both the men's and women's sides that made it to their prospective championship matches. The doubles tandom's of Arakhamiya and Manuel Lindekeit qualified for the doubles championship but eventually lost, as did women's #1 doubles, Fontecha and senior Michelle McCabe.
